Bartter Enterprises Pty Limited is Australia's second largest poultry producer, employing over 4,500 employees throughout its farming, processing, distribution and marketing & sales operations. Bartter Enterprises manufacture and distribute fresh and frozen whole and portioned chicken and turkey products nationally.

Family owned and operated, the company has expanded significantly over the recent years and is now processing in excess of 2.2 million chickens per week and processing over 100,000 turkeys in peak season per week.

For over 40 years the Bartter business has grown significantly. The company was established in 1955 and began as a Junior Farmers (Rural Youth) Project to produce table eggs. In 1960 David joined his brother Peter to form the Bartter family business. The business was based in Griffith NSW in the heart of the Riverina (approximately 600kms from Sydney and 450kms from Melbourne).

In 1999 Bartter Enterprises acquired the well-known Steggles business to become the business we are today.

Processing plants are located in Griffith and Beresfield (near Newcastle) in New South Wales, Geelong in Victoria, Ipswich in South Queensland, Mareeba in North Queensland and Osborne Park in Perth, Western Australia. Breeding and hatching operations are in close proximity to these plants. Distribution is carried out from each processing plant and distribution centres in Marsden Park (Sydney), Wagga Wagga and Canberra .
