Since the school’s foundation in 1918 as an independent boys’ school in the Anglican tradition, our goal has remained the same: to nurture the growth of individual boys from childhood to adulthood. The Cranbrook curriculum, from pre-school to Year 12, balances self-discovery, teacher directed instruction and responsibility for independent learning. The curriculum is rigorous, encouraging thoughtful academic enquiry and intellectual agility. The school has built a highly supportive pastoral care structure to ensure boys are known well and gain in confidence and self worth. The essence of Cranbrook is that we care passionately about the worth and development of each individual.

Cranbrook currently has nearly 1300 boys from Kindergarten to Year 12, with nearly 90 of these being boarders. The Senior School (Years 7-12) has about 850 boys, about 300 in the Junior School (Years 3-6) and 150 in Years K-2. In addition, the school has two preschools (ages 3-5) catering for a combined intake of about 120 girls and boys. About 200 members of staff are employed through the whole school.

Years 3-12 classes are held at our Bellevue Hill campus, located about 5 kilometres e ast of the city and can be reached by bus either from the city or Bondi Junction or a short walk from Edgecliff Railway Station. Our Rose Bay campus, located about 7 kilometres east of the city, currently houses Years K-2, can be reached by buses from the city and is the site for a new Junior School (K-6), which is currently in planning stages. It is adjacent to the school’s Dangar Playing Fields. Our two preschools, St Mark’s at Darling Point and St Michael’s at Vaucluse, established in 1944, are also close to bus routes from the city and St Mark’s within walking distance from Edgecliff Railway Station.
