At Lauriston, we value relationships. Our commitment to building successful relationships means effective learning outcomes at every level. We revere kindness, co-operation, tolerance and respect for others irrespective of age, ethnicity, status or religion.
We encourage an adventurous spirit together with a capacity for celebration and a joy for life. Our curriculum is designed to prepare students to be world citizens. The future is the key and we are constantly planning and facilitating a range of learning experiences to equip out students for life.
Our philosophy supports intellectual inquiry and creative thinking. We ask students to participate in constructing their own learning patterns. This can be seen from Kindergarten to Year 12 and will ultimately support students through their challenging tertiary environment.
Lauriston girls are energetic participants and contributors in our extensive international and community programs. The girls are encouraged to be giving and outward looking, with an active view of the World.
One of the unique opportunities available to our students is spending Year 9 in residence at our country campus at Howqua, located 200 kilometres northeast of Melbourne. Here students develop the courage to take risks and face challenges, encouraging an independence of mind and spirit. In this environment, students learn that they can achieve far more than they thought possible. Their accomplishments become the foundation for future achievement.
Every day of their school life, Lauriston girls are reminded of unique and limitless possibilities that tomorrow’s world will present and their potential to contribute to its creation.
Lauriston Girls’ School is different. As one of the finest schools in Australia, it has been associated with outstanding and adventurous women for over one hundred years. Many students maintain an enthusiastic relationship with the Community of Old Girls and from lifetime bonds with each other and the School.
