There is a huge range of postgraduate courses in nursing to help you specialise in areas like emergency, child and family health, palliative care, midwifery, mental health, disability, rehabilitation, Aboriginal health, coronary care and many others.
To qualify as a clinical nurse specialist, clinical nurse consultant, clinical nurse educator or nurse educator, you may need postgraduate qualifications such as a diploma or extra degree. In some cases, public sector nurses with postgraduate qualifications are entitled to a ‘qualifications allowance’, an extra $10$30 in your pay packet each week.
Visit your university’s website to see what kind of postgraduate courses they offer, and contact the institution directly for information on how to apply. Other ways to qualify:
University courses
Hospital-based training
TAFE courses
