What's it like to be a Customer Service Manager?
A Customer Service Manager is responsible for the smooth running of customer service operations of a business, including contact centres or front desks. Customer Service Managers coordinate the activities and performance of the team they manage, and provide a point of escalation for more difficult customer enquiries.
Tasks and duties
- Coaching the customer service team to provide the best service possible.
- Handling complicated or escalated enquiries.
- Delegating responsibilities to team members.
- Generating sales and managing customer relationships.
- Meeting with internal teams to discuss company targets.
- Reporting on team results.
How to become a Customer Service Manager
- Consider completing a Certificate III in Business (Customer Engagement) (BSB30120). This course will develop your skills to respond to complex customer requests or complaints.
- Alternatively, the Certificate IV in Leadership and Management (BSB40520) will prepare you for leadership positions in the workplace. Or the Diploma of Leadership and Management (BSB50420) will teach you how to manage projects and develop team plans to meet expected outcomes.
- To build advanced skills and prepare for more senior roles, consider completing a postgraduate qualification such as a Graduate Certificate in Customer Success Management.
