How to become a Financial Officer

To gain employment as a Financial Officer, a diploma-level qualification in finance, commerce, economics, accounting or business is usually required at a minimum.

  1. Undertake formal qualifications, such as a Diploma of Accounting (FNS50217), a Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Business.
  2. Gain experience in the field, together with knowledge of specialist software programs such as QuickBooks, SAP, Tableau and Xero.
  3. With experience and the possibility of further study, Financial Officers can work up to becoming Finance Managers or Chief Financial Officers.
