Teachers Aide

Teachers Aide

Assist classroom teachers with general classroom and non-teaching tasks.

What's it like to be a Teachers Aide?

A Teacher’s Aide helps classroom teachers with non-teaching duties such as preparing resources and teaching materials, and performing general administrative classroom tasks.

Tasks and duties

  • Support the classroom teacher by preparing teaching materials and resources, photocopying and filing lesson material in addition to distributing and collecting students’ work.
  • Organise and maintain teaching and learning resources, as well as ordering appropriate equipment as required.
  • Attend staff meetings and parent-teacher interviews as required.
Teachers’ Aides are different from Assistant Teachers in that Aides are responsible for general classroom tasks, whereas Assistant Teachers are qualified to provide instructional support.
The role of the Teacher’s Aide is varied; in addition to providing classroom support and preparing resources, some Teacher’s Aides provide support to particular groups of students including those with specific learning needs, students with a disability and those with English as a second language.
