The good things

The challenges

Have really enjoyed it and wish I had made the move to AQ sooner.

The good things
Professional development opportunities, neurodiversity affirming, great team, collaborative practice, working alongside and collaborating with Occupational Therapist and Speech Pathologists. Supporting children, their families and education settings to work towards positive outcomes.
The challenges
Complex cases (but if they weren't complex they wouldn't need the level of support and therapy we provide). Emotional energy that is used to support coregulation of clients.

Diverse, challenging, rewarding, supportive.

The good things
Opportunities for career advancement, clinical supervision, additional week of Christmas leave, Birthday leave, neurodiversity-affirming practices, dedicated research team, collaboration across teams and sites, open communication, strengths-based approach working with clients, internal and external professional development paid for by organisation.
The challenges
Unfortunately as a NFP it may never be possible to have pay rates equivalent to government roles or some private practices, but the amount of support, leave, and professional development outweighs this and will mean you're a better therapist than you might be in other roles!

Combining my love for early years and therapy for Autistic children is a dream role!

The good things
A really supportive team who have incredible knowledge and skills to share from their disciplines. AQ have a lot of PD opportunities and are supporting learning around Neurodiverse Affirming Practices. There are lots of opportunities across the organisation to support career growth. Flexible, understanding and supportive leadership team who have great experience to share with our team.
The challenges
Facilities are becoming a bit outdated now and space is an issue. It is a busy role at times, but really meaningful work to support and provide service to children and their families.

AQ is an amazing organisation with the right people sharing the same passion

The good things
The company’s vision of providing support to people on the spectrum really channels down from top to bottom and it is clear that employees of all levels are passionate and share the same goals. I worked for a very supportive team with genuinely kind peoples who share the same goal of getting the work done and helping one another - great teamwork ethics and supportive management. Absolutely loved coming to work everyday!
The challenges
I can honestly say I didn’t encounter anything negative about the organisation.

Good in theory, not in practice

The good things
Salary sacrificing Moving towards neurodiversity affirming practices Regular professional supervision and opportunities for professional development
The challenges
Large and complex caseload Too much focus on billable hours (5 hours per work day which only includes direct client time and travel). Given the complexity of clients and families and the services therapists provide, this does not allow enough time to create resources and develop knowledge and skills to deliver high quality services Pay does not match the high demands of the role Burnout is common which impacts employee retention Some roles may have a higher risk of physical injury Poor workplace politics from some managers

Wonderful supportive loving and caring workplace. Would not hesitate to work there again.

The good things
Coming to work each day with a goal to make a difference for those in the Autism Spectrum is great. Everyone is committed towards the same goal and because of that, it makes the working environment really positive and enjoyable. It is an awesome organization at heart and their love and concern for people is amazing. Colleagues were genuine and lovely people passionate about their work and support each other. If you want a job you look forward to going to everyday this is the place to work.
The challenges
None as I had the right managers and team who offered plenty of help and support.

AQ has a lot of opportunity to be a great company to work for however some coordinators are under qualified for the position and fall short. Wouldn’t recommend working here, plenty of better companies to work for.

The good things
AQ offers salary sacrifice packages which is great. Plenty of hours on offer and great clients.
The challenges
Very little support from management. Issues are consistently swept under rug and staff doing the wrong thing aren’t ever held accountable. Management offer empty promises of a larger contract to entice you to take on more responsibility however it isn’t followed through.
