Probably the most stressful and uninspired workplace I've ever experienced.

The good things
I struggle to find much of anything nice to say about my time in this company.
The challenges
There is a lot of office negativity and general nastiness within the workplace.

BCS is a great place to work!!

The good things
Working with a group of like minded people who enjoy giving back to the community.
The challenges
It's a very diverse organisation with a lot of moving parts. While challenging, this also makes it an interesting environment to work in.

Children's Services
May 2019
Canberra ACT, Australia

Would be a good workplace if a few key management members resigned.

The good things
Friendly staff and flexible work environment. Good professional learning opportunities, especially for those willing to step outside their typical role responsibilities (ie ability to be on the policy committee or WHS roles).
The challenges
Higher management in Children's Services lacked knowledge and experience, and are inconsistent with their expectations. Management are very rigid in their styles and stuck in their ways. Very little professional recognition or respect for the Childcare Directors and Educators, especially for those going above and beyond their role description. Extremely high turnover of staff, particularly School Age Care Directors. No probation period feedback (or any feedback, even when requested) or willingness to conduct performance reviews. Very unprofessional School Age Care teams, including management. Arguments in meetings and people storming out and/or crying is not uncommon.

Horrible place to work

The good things
Getting to know the children and growing with them
The challenges
Inexperienced staff and managers. They don't value staff members. The children can see how horrible it is to work here, majority of them hate going.
