Over my very short career with Boart longyear, I have had the opportunity to work on global projects that will make a difference to the lives of many of our personnel, and I'm sure there are very few companies where in such a short space of time iI would've had these amazing opportunities.

The good things

As a global company with a diverse range of services the career opportunities are amazing. It's a fast-paced, competitive industry and Boart is at the head of the pack. Very proud to work for a company with this kind of history behind it and love working with this great group of people!

Sales Role

Apr 2020

Sales Role

Adelaide Airport SA, Australia
11 to 12 years in the role,

Be careful, they'll suck the life out of you if you let them.

The good things

Due to the continual churn, opportunities for career advancement become frequently available. Remuneration is good if you are willing to negotiate. Interesting industry with strong characters.

The challenges

The churn. As If the mining cycle doesn't cause enough instability, almost continuous "restructuring" by a near constant change in senior management puts it over the edge. Like working on the edge of a cliff.

Shame, a once great company sadly on its knees.

The good things

Some good people and has an interesting history.

The challenges

Zero career progression for anyone. The 600m debt the company is in means that employees are squeezed to the last drop of sweat and are under a constant pressure to over perform. The best people end up leaving unfortunately.
