Senior Executive Assistant
Oct 2023
North Sydney NSW 2060
Less than 1 year in the role

The role was not described accurately with the job description in total contrast to reality. The previous EA had also left after a short tenure and there were no useful links or handover notes. It was pitched as an autonomous role requiring professionalism and maturity with advanced levels of communication. The experience was totally opposite - if you enjoy micromanagement, this is the job for you. There is no support, recognition or appreication for your work, you are on your own.

The good things
Flexibility Minimal contact with fellow staff members Competitive Salary
The challenges
Late start for most employees No colleague interaction Autocratic/Micromanaged Management No training/handover Role is predominately complicated expense submission EAs are not valued or utilised efficiently No other admin staff in the office or finance staff to assist Very poor communication with leaders and company wide No opportunity for advancement

Everything except the salary received is great.

The good things
Amazing work-life balance, compared to most of the other companies out there.
The challenges
Benching can come at any time, and you can be on the bench for a year or more. A lot of luck is needed to get into a project.

The worst company I have ever worked for. Terrible.

The good things
Onsite assignments. Gives you an opening to escape from India.
The challenges
Very poorly managed company and employees have poor English comprehension and communication skills.

5 to 6 years in the role

big brand, still luck to have few clients but not good for those who follow ethics and believe performance based culture and recognition.

The good things
clients and projects are still with infosys owing to IP retention and cheap labour cost
The challenges
at senior level above level 6, there is no performance based selection or promotion or role allocation , all you need to do is join a syndicate of influential folks who have been around for long time. this is a bad culture.

Not so happy to work here

The good things
The potlucks and events
The challenges
Insecure team mates, zero work life balance, no opportunities to grow, extremely demanding client and lack of bandwidth and resources is an ongoing issue which leads to employees absconding or leaving, ongoing system issues and no resolution, justify every single minute of utlization, no increase in salary or position growth.

An excellent launch pad and an excellent semi-retirement pad.

The good things
There are a number of high profile clients and wide network of peers to rely on if you are thinking of making Infosys a career destination
The challenges
Your experience is highly dependent on what offshore 'base' and 'unit' owns the account as if you are on the wrong end of the geo-political equation, growth tends to stagnate. Also, not a strong culture of work life balance for client facing employees who face calls from early morning to late evening as a normal condition of empoyment.
