Management do not communicate with lower level staff. It is not an open, communicative environment. It is a business business interested in money, it is not a people business interested in people.

Less than 1 year in the role,

People around you are great, but upper management hasn't got a clue.

The good things

Good co-workers and down to earth people.

The challenges

training was practically non existent. What we were promised was 2 weeks of theory training, and then 2 weeks of floor support while taking minimal calls at your own pace. Well after 2 weeks of training that had nothing to do with what we would be doing in the role, we didnt get that nesting period and were thrown straight to the sharks with no support and no real idea what we were doing.

Business Support Agent

1 to 2 years in the role,

This was a experience filled with learning for me where I was able to gain excellent communication skills, people skills, leadership skills and negotiation skills.

The good things

1) They are flexible. You can swap shifts with submitted requests over email. 2) You are able to talk to people from all over Australia given that they cater for some of the largest companies in AU. This also helps in building your English Language skills.

Was not pleasant.

The good things

Some of the colleagues that you work with.

The challenges

The management is very selective with who gets to rise up the ranks and has preferences set out. Probe does not respect their contractual agreement and has you work full time hours on a casual contact, although when setting out your preferences on days you'd like to work, it's unacceptable. Overall, it's hard to deal with others and some people that work there seem to have overbearing ego.

Customer Service Representative

Customer Service Representative

Victoria, Australia

never a dull moment!

The good things

it's a really well run call centre with a lot of nice and likeable people and they choose their team leaders well. Aside from a few who can be a bit prickly you can easily find one of the large majority who are very nice and supportive. The people who have managed to progress from customer service to support teams are Ninjas, very competent and professional.

The challenges

by god some of the customers are insane and they can generate a great deal of pressure, which fortunately is pretty transitory. As with all call centres you get some great people and then some slightly more annoying, shallow and competitive people, proximity to whom can drive you nuts. Like all things in life, you need to choose your allies. But this is by and large a high performance, very professional call centre and if you go in with the right attitude you can make it work for you.
