Driver
Feb 2023
Picton WA 6229
3 to 4 years in the role

Just a number, go there do your thing, bend over when required but don't forget to say thankyou for letting me work here. They will give you a start with no experience, do your time then move on. Experienced drivers don't even bother there are plenty of other options out there that pay more with better conditions.

The good things
Not FIFO. Modern gear. No shortage of work.
The challenges
4/4/4 roster is a killer and not family friendly. Excessive monitoring. Very poor morale amongst drivers. All the nice modern gear if falling apart. Management.

Recycled

The good things
On paper average to good road train work
The challenges
The staff (purple at best), management typical transport mixed with rio tinto transport haulage and its ilk. Lots of glazing over safety, unless it is deamed important and you are in the cross hairs

Poor management

The good things
Working on the water and large vessels

Callous and ruthless - a good place to work if you love conflict, enmity and betrayal.

The good things
I enjoyed most that the workforce was unionised as that’s the only protection you have.
The challenges
It’s a hard industry to work in. Not having a roster and only finding out your shifts via text message at 4pm every day made life difficult.
