The staff are treated very poorly. I was warned about working here by friends, and Torquay Resorts high turnover of staff. I should have listened.

The good things
The guests are lovely.
The challenges
Constant gaslighting from management. They are extremely unprofessional.

Very toxic and stressful workplace.

The good things
Some of my colleagues.
The challenges
Forced to work 6 hours without a break. Unrealistic time constraints on completing tasks. A very toxic environment to work in. Management unapproachable.

Highly recommend if you want a career not just a job.

The good things
The best company I’ve ever worked for. They value staff, professional and quality environment to work in, dedicated to keeping their staff. Fantastic team. I loved every day.
The challenges
They mandated vaccines. Otherwise I would go back. I can’t fault it otherwise.

Worst company I have ever worked for and wouldn't recommend my worst enemy to work there

The good things
Made some life-long friends who supported each other in this toxic environment.
The challenges
Management never assists and are the only hotel/resort environment where they believe they are too good to work weekends, public holidays and evenings. Expected to work every weekend and no such thing as work / life balance.

Housekeeping Role
Jan 2021
Victoria, Australia

Resort badly understaffed, whether due to bad management on employment areas or due to ppl on JobKeeper or both) added extra high expectations on all staff due to loading more work on an already over pressured staff level! Not enjoyable!

The good things
Staff friendly & overall resort complex nice place to work in.
The challenges
Working 5+ hours before we got any break! Hard on all staff working this physical role. Room cleans & time limits (extra Covid clean methods in place). Guests arriving earlier than normal check-in times & selfishly expecting rooms to be ready putting more stress on reception, management & already pressured housekeeping staff!

Not recommended if you want to be happy.

The good things
There are a few nice people and the pay is okay.
The challenges
No opportunity for training or career advancement. Managers are lazy and incapable.

Front Office Duty Manager
Nov 2020
Victoria, Australia

Used to be really good. But not any more. Just another money-hungry organisation.

The good things
A reputable AUS organisation. Strong internal policy and control. It used to pay well (not any more). Great staff benefits. Solid training, learning and career opportunities. Met a lot of great people who became friends.
The challenges
The ruthless new management (from the top) - all of a sudden it became all about revenue, money and profit only. Chasing after every penny-grabbing opportunity, they started to treat loyal staff who loved working for the company like dispensable parts. Years of loyalty from the members no longer mattered. Going exactly opposite of what a member's organisation should be. Used to love the company's values and directions, but not any more.
