A really rewarding career

The good things
The people are really lovely, they really make it great coming in to work knowing that everyone who works here is committed to bettering the lives of people with disability. Just a really passionate group of people. Lots of great support opportunities for the clinicians.
The challenges
Working within the NDIS (in any company!) can be a challenge.

Therapy Focus has been the highlight of my career to date. I have a great work/life balance and supportive management team and my efforts are always appreciated.

The good things
The people at Therapy Focus are wonderful. There is a real sense of belonging and creating successful working relationships.
The challenges
The market in general, for therapy providers.

This is the sort of place where the culture is so toxic, the executive team speak poorly of clinicians and clinicians are constantly asked to work harder. Executive team do not listen to challenges and persist in using systems that do not work.

The good things
I met some wonderful people who wanted to achieve good things for clients, despite many challenges.
The challenges
Executive team have limited understanding of what it’s like to be a therapist, therapy turned into a transactional service which was solely billable/productivity based, extremely limited opportunities for career development despite therapists having significant experience.

This is the unicorn job for a new graduate.

The good things
Clinical Supervision is mandatory, which is so important as a health professional.
The challenges
Working in a pandemic has really tested my rapport building skills.

A fantastic organisation with a warm and supportive culture.

The good things
I have been given opportunities to progress my career the way I have wanted, advancing in a specialist field, as well as management and continue to be supported throughout each step of this journey.
The challenges
The NDIS provides a continually changing environment, which does present challenges at times for both health professionals and customers involved within the scheme.

A terrific organisation to work for with excellent values and culture

The good things
- Out of all the places I’ve worked, Therapy Focus values their staff much more than I’ve ever felt valued by any other organisation. - Therapy Focus values clinical supervision and improvement of its staff - Management supports professional development - Therapy Focus is focused on improving the welfare of all clients and its staff - Diverse and interesting caseload - Making a positive difference in improving the lives of clients living with disabilities and their families.
The challenges
Whilst not a direct fault of the organisation - The NDIS funding system as a whole has many challenges - for both clients and employees working in the disability sector.

Making new friends

The good things
Some of the staff are really nice and supportive.
The challenges
Management are not so nice and do all they can to make you want to leave. Some staff need to think about the clients needs.
