Quality Manager

Montague is a growing Australian family-owned business and we currently have an exciting vacancy for a Quality Manager who will be responsible for managing our fresh produce quality system.  This position is based on at our Narre Warren North site.

Purpose:
1. To ensure all produce supplied to Montague International customers meets legal requirements of the country to which the produce is sold.
2. To ensure all fruit supplied to Montague customers both locally and internationally is certified under an independently audited quality assurance system.
3. To develop an effective and trusted working relationship with suppliers and customers to consistently improve the standard of product supplied by Montague.

Key responsibilities include:
• Manage the relevant quality assurance and food safety systems to ensure compliance of all product supplied by Montague
• In conjunction with the Retail and Technical teams, work with Montague suppliers, packhouses and growers to develop systems that regulate the standard of produce packed and provide quality reports on all produce submitted to customers.
• Ensure that practices employed are effectively communicated to all stakeholders and encourage improved efficiencies.
• In conjunction with the Technical Manager, manage the implementation of quality improvement strategies and the reporting of quality performance with key customers in a manner that improves results and enhances the business relationships.

To be successful in this role, you will need the following:
• Strong written skills with proven ability to write operational procedures.
• Experience in training small teams
• Experience in using Microsoft Excel spreadsheets for analytical work
• Clear & effective communication
• Quick comprehension of given instructions
• Able to give direction thorough training
• Confidence dealing with fellow employees, customers, suppliers and external auditors

The following will be well regarded:
• Experience within the fresh produce and/or manufacturing industry
• Experience managing a quality assurance system - HACCP, Global Gap, SQF, HARPS or similar.
• Tertiary degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Science or Food Science
