  • Do you want to support people to make a positive difference in their lives?

About the Opportunity

Flourish Australia is seeking motivated and enthusiastic Peer Workers and Mental Health Workers to join our teams at Windsor and Katoomba

The positions available are closed-period full-time and closed-period part-time, depending on operational need, working at:

  • Katoomba until 16 November 2018 (parental leave role)
  • Katoomba until 13 July 2018
  • Windsor until 30 June 2018

All positions are classified Level 3 on the SCHCADS award.

The aim is to deliver the new Enhanced Adult Community Living Supports program which is an expansion of the NSW Housing and Accommodation Support Initiative (HASI) tasked with providing flexible and individualised community care.

On a day to day basis you will be required to:

  • Listen to and create opportunities and activities that meet the interests and goals of people.
  • Encourage shared learning experiences, and support skill development at every opportunity through self-directed learning, information and education.
  • Ensure that individual support is provided to a person that accesses Flourish Australia services that meets their recovery journey goals and is strengths based and led by the person wherever possible.
  • Be 'hands on' and involved in direct service delivery.

The difference between the two roles is a Peer Worker is required to use their lived experience of a mental health issue and personal recovery openly.

It is not a requirement for Mental Health Workers to use their lived experience of a mental health issue in their everyday work.

  • Career development opportunities
  • Comprehensive infrastructure including fleet motor vehicle, mobile phone and other resources for work purposes.
