PR Account Manager (Corporate)

WE Buchan is on the hunt for our next ultra-talented Account Manager to join our award-winning agency. Based in Sydney, this exciting opportunity for an Account Manager with 3 years’ experience in financial services or corporate communications sector. In this role you will independently manage and drive the implementation of ongoing activity and lead the basic day-to-day running of accounts. You will be responsible for carrying out activity to assist the client with achieving its goals and will deliver the highest quality of work and outstanding results.

You will also be commercially focused, tasked with managing budgets, mentoring team members, supporting and guiding daily actions, reviewing and approving content and strategy, identifying new business opportunities, contributing to strong team culture, and finding time to have fun!

Key Attributes of the Candidate:

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years’ experience in a similar PR / communication role, ideally with financial services client experience
  • Strong media relations experience and the ability to build relationships with key media contacts
  • Strong issues management experience is highly regarded

Leadership:

  • Confident, entrepreneurial, self-starter: able to identify and seize opportunities and build trust with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Has a track record of successful business development with both new and existing clients
  • Has confidence and knowledge to provide advice/counsel to senior clients in and around specialist area
  • Has strong and persuasive communication skills
  • Is a creative, flexible problem solver
  • Has desire to work as one team and share knowledge
  • Can identify and correct problems or weaknesses
  • Will create an atmosphere of mutual respect, support and trust

Operational Competencies:

  • Has a track record in being able to educate, persuade/influence international stakeholders (both internal and external)
  • Is widely and deeply connected: Has a proven ability to develop strong senior media relationships and comprehensive understanding of the media and new media environments
  • Has relationships with, and a clear understanding of key stakeholder groups in the tech sector and how relevant groups interface with one another

  • Contribute to the development of junior staff through mentorship, coaching and training of junior staff
  • Contributed to the growth and innovation of the agency through your assigned sub-committee work
  • Take a proactive role in new business from networking and prospecting, through to proposal development and pitching
