Procurement Manager - Consulting

Working conditions include:

  • Modern office in Sydney CBD, a 3 minute walk to Wynyard station
  • 38 hour work week
  • 20 days annual leave per annum

About the role

This is an exceptional role for a procurement practitioner with consulting experience or an outstanding consultant with procurement expertise to work in a developing strategic procurement consulting team. This position is a client facing role that contributes directly to delivery excellence for consulting, training and special projects.

You will be responsible for delivering your own consulting projects and providing quantified high-quality consulting outcomes for councils and stakeholders.

Duties and responsibilities

The position plays a pivotal role in translating the consulting requirements of stakeholders into high-quality effective outcomes.  You will be responsible for managing various consulting projects undertaken with councils and other stakeholders including, but not limited to;

  • Managing end to end tender processes on behalf of councils and other organisations
  • Special projects as required (example: policy review, development and training)
  • Potential temporary placement into a procurement role within a council
  • Best practice procurement advice
  • Internal and external process development and improvement
  • Assist training of council staff, as required
  • Special projects that may be required.

Whilst this role requires you to be semi-autonomous in the management and administration of your role, you will also be a team player and keen to contribute towards broader organisational objectives.

The position will work with key stakeholders on consulting projects. Your responsibilities include participating in marketing of the services that are available through Local Government Procurement (LGP). The position will assist to build positive working relationships with all stakeholders. Intrastate travel with limited overnight stays is a potential requirement for this position.

Experience

  • Delivering fee-for-service procurement projects for local government, as well as corporate project delivery
  • Strong commercial acumen, with demonstrated ability to sell and positively impact revenue growth
  • Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance organisational effectiveness
  • Manage execution of procurement activities including tendering, contract management, supplier relationship management implementation and process 
  • Create and deliver presentations (as required)  throughout the consulting engagement
  • Train customer procurement professionals and facilitate benefits implementation and realisation, including necessary change management and communications activity

Qualifications

Appropriate qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g.  Supply Chain, Commerce or Business) or demonstrated equivalent experience. Membership of a relevant professional body such as CIPS or AAPCM
