Research & Development Manager

Eurofins Animal Health (EAH) is a multinational veterinary contract research organisation and services the animal health industry, both in Australia and internationally. We specialise in the design, management and execution of veterinary research projects.

The R&D role is based at our head office in Lane Cove, Sydney. Our companion animal field station is in Western Sydney. We run production animal studies out of various sites QLD (climate and study dependent) and we have staff based in Innisfail, QLD and in Orange, NSW. You will be expected to undertake some travel to assist with onsite work in rural and interstate studies.

The R&D Manager reports to the Managing Director and works with other managers, research associates, research assistants and ancillary staff. With the support and cooperation of your colleagues you will lead junior research staff and manage multiple projects in multiple locations.

You must be competent in companion animal and production animal medicine, and have an excellent and working understanding of production animal husbandry.

Excellent communication skills are essential as we rely heavily on phone-calls and emails to manage remote studies and remote staff. In addition you must be able to communicate professionally, reliably, and efficiently with our sponsors and other stakeholders.

The role requires a high level of attention to detail as thorough and detailed study documentation and report writing are a critical component of the job. You must also be well-organised and be able to organize and manage others effectively.

Duties for the R&D Manager role include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare study protocols/study schedules
  • Assist in quote preparation for new studies
  • Manage study budgets
  • Implement and manage field studies (farm/vet clinic clients/owners) and pen studies (in our own research animals)
  • Collate and review raw study data
  • Analyse data, interpret study results, prepare high quality study reports
  • Liaise with key external and internal stakeholders (i.e. ethics committees, clients, laboratory staff)
  • Recruit, screen and enrol clinical cases based on study criteria
  • Conduct field work and site visits to treat and assess the health and welfare of enrolled animals

Essential criteria:

•  You MUST hold a degree in Veterinary Science OR Science, majoring in Animal Sciences

•  Minimum 5 years’ work experience (post-graduation)

Desirable but not essential criteria:

•   Animal research industry experience

  • A good working knowledge of GCP
  • Experience in scientific writing

The role is open now and the start date is as immediate as possible. The salary package is very attractive and will be commensurate with your experience.
