Digital Media Manager

About the business

The Australian Olympic Committee is a non-government, not-for-profit organisation, committed to the development of youth and sport. It is our responsibility to select, send and fund Australian Teams to the Olympic Games.

This is achieved by the support of our sponsors, contributions from the Australian Olympic Foundation (AOF), fundraising at corporate events and the backing of State and Territory Governments who donate to our Olympic Team Appeal.

About the role

This position will manage the AOCs on-line brand across all digital platforms including the AOC website, social platforms and apps. The role will ensure that the AOC on-line environment is innovative, up to date and engaging at all times, not just during Summer and Winter Olympic Games and other Olympic related events.

The key accountabilities of the position include:

  • To develop and evolve a project plan for all AOC public facing digital communications across multiple platforms.
  • To display superior skills in keeping abreast of the rapidly changing digital environment to guarantee AOC resources are being deployed appropriately
  • To work constructively with the General Manager IT to ensure the design, building and maintenance of our digital platforms is optimal for the AOC's public communication
  • Provide expert guidance and strategic communications advice to the Head of Public Affairs regarding digital communications support for major AOC initiatives.
  • To maximise audience engagement with the AOC website/app and social platforms to ensure the AOCs messaging is well understood in the community
  • To supervise the Digital Media Coordinator to evolve the AOC's social media platforms
  • To create, source and curate content from multiple sources that can be readily transferrable across platforms
  • To working with AOC sponsors and contracted parties to develop and deliver activation projects.

Skills and experience

  • Thorough understanding of Content Management and other systems underpinning the effective maintenance of timely and relevant information on the AOC website.
  • Contemporary appreciation of trends and developments in apps and social platforms to ensure AOC channels maximise the opportunity for the AOC to be an engaging publisher in its own right.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills to ensure AOC digital properties meet the business requirements of the relevant department heads through regular liaison.
  • Capacity to create original content and integrate/activate content from external sources into the AOC digital environment.
  • Sound understanding of how a unifying brand can straddle multiple platforms, reaching different audiences and demographics.
  • Capacity to work under pressure during Games-time to direct numerous staff generating content for AOC platforms.
  • Capacity to manage ongoing activities while planning for upcoming events in juxtaposition.
