About the business

The Australian Olympic Committee is a non-government, not-for-profit organisation, committed to the development of youth and sport. It is our responsibility to select, send and fund Australian Teams to the Olympic Games.

This is achieved by the support of our sponsors, contributions from the Australian Olympic Foundation (AOF), fundraising at corporate events and the backing of State and Territory Governments who donate to our Olympic Team Appeal.

About the role

Primarily responsible for delivering a range of written content designed to keep the AOC website, State Olympic Council websites and other digital properties up to date at all times.

The position will generate and update a range of written content around Olympic stories, athletes profiles, statistics and other written content.

The role will conduct media relations activity particularly around pre-Games and media operational Games-time activity.

Key accountabilities include: 

  • Will develop profiles for all new Olympic athletes and update profiles of existing athletes and the Olympic Alumni as they change over time
  • Develop written content as required for publications such as Australian Olympians
  • Develop content in liaison with AOC sponsors
  • Conduct routine reviews to check that all AOC on-line content is up to date and accurate
  • Will work with the Senior Media Manager to deliver Games-time media operations
  • Assist with the management of AOC social media channels
  • Conduct research into Olympic athletes and events

Skills and experience

  • Proven ability to write engaging content that is accurate and easy to understand
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Proven computer literacy, including ability to update websites
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate effective cooperation with athletes, national federations, sponsors, media and AOC departmental heads
  • Strong customer service focus
  • Ability to shoot and edit video and stills pictures is desirable but not essential
  • Attention to detail and strong ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
