The latest opportunity to join the team is as a Podiatrist. As a member of the dynamic and innovative mobile allied health team, the Podiatrist will provide a range of podiatry services from the Health and Wellness Centre, Community client's homes and also in Residential Care Facilities.

The role provides services to the clients ensuring these are customer focused, adopt best practice approaches, provide for innovative solutions and strive for continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance the quality of life and independence of our clients by delivering evidenced based podiatry interventions through the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of foot problems.
  • Provide individualised services enabling older people to maintain functional capacity, maximise quality of life and to re-engage with community activities.
  • Regularly review and evaluate client therapy plans to ensure identified goals are achieved and quality of life and healthy ageing promoted.
  • Maximise client opportunities to access funding for services to support and enhance independence.
  • Provide information and education to clients and their family/advocate, and the Goodwin team, about podiatry services promoting preventative health strategies (e.g. Foot health), personal wellbeing and healthy lifestyle.
  • Maintain current knowledge of contemporary podiatry techniques and healthcare issues, and ensure all clinical practice is in accordance with the relevant legislative requirements, professional code of ethics, professional code of conduct and available evidence.
  • Maintain the current knowledge and meet the requirements necessary for podiatrists providing services funded via multiple private, state and national government sources.
  • Undertake as required, the monitoring, purchasing, storage and maintenance of supplies and equipment.
  • Assess, plan and implement appropriate intervention to clients with diabetes, including those with active foot complications requiring pressure care and wound management

Selection Criteria:

  • Current registration as a podiatrist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • A genuine interest in the aged care industry.
  • Demonstrated excellence in specialist assessment and the delivery of evidenced based podiatry assessment and restorative interventions.
  • Expertise in diabetes and other chronic conditions care.
  • Orthotic and corrective footwear prescription experience.
  • Well-developed computer skills including proficiency in MS Office and client management software applications.
  • Ability to assess, plan and implement appropriate intervention to clients with diabetes, including those with active foot complications requiring pressure care and wound management.
  • Current unrestricted drivers licence.
