Our mining operation provides you with the opportunity to live locally and go home every day or stay in our Village for your roster and DIDO.  We are only 130kms from the Perth CBD and approximately 100kms from the coast. You will have every second Friday off as your RDO as well as Public Holidays - a great work/life balance.

What you will be doing

You will be a member of the site Sustainability and External Relations team providing specialist support to operational and planning areas of NBG. Environmental performance is at the heart of Newmont’s social license to operate philosophy and ensures that relationships with key stakeholders are maintained through active, open and honest communication/consultation.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for executing and improving NBG’s environmental monitoring programme and providing support and direction to the Department’s field technicians. 
  • Management of the site’s monitoring database (MP5) including QA/QC checks.
  • Analysis and reporting on trends in monitoring data to identify anomalies, compliance, improvement opportunities and background for action plans.
  • Coordinating specialist studies associated with biodiversity and site emissions as directed.
  • Compliance with National Greenhouse Energy Reporting Scheme (NGERS), National Pollutant Inventory (NPI), Newmont’s internal Data Acquisition Workbook (DAW) and other associated reporting requirements.
  • Continual review of procedures and systems within your area that are linked to supporting the site’s ISO14001 certification and Newmont’s global standards.
  • Management of environmental, social and safety risks respective to your field of work.
  • Reporting against decreed performance indicators and respective annual metrics.
  • Working with operational departments to ensure waste management on site remains compliant and supportive of community investment programmes.
  • Participation in annual budget and planning process.
  • Facilitating accident and incident investigations.
  • Completion and timely submission of external reports.
  • Management of respective environmental contracts including, development of project scopes and milestones, tracking milestone progress and budget management.
  • Supporting Social Responsibility personnel in the realm of noise and blast complaints.

Who you are

You will have a tertiary qualification in Environment (Environmental Engineering/Science Degree, Diploma of Natural Resource Management) and professional experience in mining or a similar role.  You will possess strong communication skills, work well in a busy team environment and have a natural curiosity for all things science.  Previous experience with ISO 14001 and knowledge of relevant State and Federal legislation is desirable.  A strong analytical skill set matched with planning and problem solving skills will be the key to your success in the role.
