Community Care Workers

Creating Links (NSW) Ltd is a growing not-for profit community organisation that focuses on developing dynamic, resilient, confident and inclusive communities and families within Metropolitan Sydney.

At this exciting time of change in both the aged care and disability sectors, Creating Links is seeking experienced, vibrant and committed people to join our team as Community Care Support Workers, and Personal Care Workers in the Blue Mountains Regions.

This role will be responsible for providing high quality, person centred support to participants of NDIS and people over 65 years. You will ensure dignity, privacy and respect is central to all areas of your work. Services include, but are not limited to, personal care, social support (1:1 or groups), domestic assistance and respite care (in home or community).

Essential Criteria

Qualifications

  • Minimum Cert III in Disability or Aged Care or Community Services or related fields.
  • Current drivers licence with no restrictions

Duties may include the following:

  • Providing light domestic assistance to clients in their homes 
  • Assistance with Personal Care tasks
  • Transport services for Clients to appointments, shops, or social outings
  • The use of Mobility equipment such as hoist, stand up lifter
  • Meal Preparation

Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience in direct service provision for either individuals with disabilities and their families, or person's over 65 requiring community services. 
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • A commitment to the rights of individuals with disabilities and people over 65. 
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Knowledge and understanding of the principles of person centred care and enablement 
  • Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one within three months of commencing employment.
  • A knowledge and commitment to the principles of normalisation, and to the National Disability Services Standards, Disability Inclusion Act 2014 and Home Care Standards 
  • Understanding of child protection and mandatory reporting legislation and guidelines.
  • Own car with comprehensive car insurance. 
  • Valid Working with Children Check Clearance
  • National criminal Records History Check. 
  • Knowledge of current Work Health and Safety Legislation.
  • The willingness to run and at times host groups.

Desirable Criteria

  • Fluency in a second relevant community language as well as English 
  • An understanding and appreciation of the issues affecting people with a disability, the ageing population, and their families.
