Project Manager - Water

Operating across Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia, John Holland is a fully integrated infrastructure, building and rail group. Opportunity available for an experienced Project Manager to join our Infrastructure division within our VIC/SA/TAS Region, based in Hobart, TAS for a 12 month secondment position assisting our client - this is a permanent full-time position within John Holland. Leading a team of Engineers, you will be responsible for leading the successful delivery of network pipeline minor and major renewal and replacements, water treatment plants and pumping station augmentation. The projects are $1-5m in value.

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Preparation of business cases to the client
  • Stakeholder management; ensure that stakeholders are actively engaged and that beneficial relationships between the project and the client, subcontractors, community and other external parties are developed and maintained
  • People management; monitor staff resourcing to ensure the project has the capability to achieve targets, supervise contractors, and foster a high performance team within a positive employee relations environment
  • Contribute to new business, continuous improvement and broader business activities
  • Financial management; ensure strong contract, commercial and financial risk management, accurate forecasting of both costs and revenue, take corrective action in line with authority and reporting frameworks and maximise the profit margin for the project
  • Procure and manage the successful delivery of the projects for our client
  • Commissioning and handover
  • Prepare post implementation reports

To be successful in this key role, you must have:

  • PM experience, preferably with a water utility background
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • A minimum of 10 years of project management experience
  • Bachelor of Engineering, Construction Management, Business or equivalent
