Project Manager - Country Regional Network

Operating across Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia, John Holland is a fully integrated infrastructure, building and rail group. John Holland manages the prestigious Country Regional Network (CRN) which makes us the first accredited private rail transport operator of a government owned heavy rail network in NSW, and one of only three accredited managers of public rail infrastructure in the State. The scope involves the operation, management and upgrade of country railway lines across NSW including 2,700km of operational freight and passenger lines, and 3,100km of non-operational lines. 

Opportunity for an experienced Project Manager with a strong Rail project delivery background to join our Country Regional Network Delivery team. You'll be responsible for the preparation of business cases, planning and leading the successful delivery of CRN projects. 

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Manage the project delivery process and project team in completion of work in accordance with the Project Delivery Manual and the Client's expectation of time, cost, safety and environmental objectives.
  • Manage the project teams AWP construction schedule 
  • Manage the execution of engineering, procurement and construction activities
  • Assign resources to deliver the works within budget, time, quality and regulatory standards, monitor and guide workflow, setting daily, weekly and long-term project goals
  • Financial management: Ensure strong contract, commercial and financial risk management, accurate forecasting of both costs and revenue, take corrective action in line with authority and reporting frameworks and maximise the profit margin for the project
  • People management: Monitor staff and labour resourcing to ensure the project has the capability to achieve targets, supervise workforce, including subcontractors, and foster a high performance team within a positive employee relations environment
  • Stakeholder management: Ensure that stakeholders are actively engaged and that beneficial relationships between the project and the client, subcontractors, community and other external parties are developed and maintained
  • Design management 

 

To be successful in this key role, you must have:

  • Bachelor of Engineering, Construction Management, Business or equivalent 
  • A minimum of 10 years of project management experience within Rail
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary projects and project teams
  • Management of up to $100m projects
