Civil Engineer

Golder is looking for an experienced Civil Engineer to support the design services team in our Cairns office. This position will give you the opportunity to gain experience on a broad range of challenging projects and work with nationally and internationally recognised specialists in waste containment, geosynthetic material design, contaminated land, earthworks, and stormwater management.  

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Working within the Queensland Design Team, support waste/landfill design projects, dam designs and other multidisciplinary engineering projects throughout the region;
  • Ensuring technical delivery of Civil Design projects, incorporating coordination of resources, financial management, risk and quality management
  • Preparing and delivering high quality proposals, reports, documents and other deliverables for clients
  • Plan, develop schedules, coordinate and direct resources on projects to meet completion deadlines
  • Supervise, coordinate and review/evaluate activities carried out by junior staff
  • Participating in training activities, mentoring and transferring knowledge to junior staff
  • Maintaining and creating client relationships
  • Providing safety leadership in identifying and alleviating/ eliminating high priority safety hazards

Skills and Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil/ Geotechnical Engineering or equivalent, ideally with other appropriate continuing education.
  • Knowledge of geosynthetic specifications and application in landfill design.
  • Ability to draw upon technical expertise of others to deliver the project outcome.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills to enable delivery of client focused services to a diverse group of professionals.
  • Professional with high attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and uses initiative.
  • Ideally experience in working with AutoCad.
  • Ability to develop client relationships, engage with clients directly.
