Pastry Chef and Chef

Have the best of both worlds. Are you looking for a coastal lifestyle change, with the opportunity to work in Tasmania’s most exclusive restaurant? The jewel of Tasmania, Saffire Freycinet is an ultra-luxury property on the sunny East Coast of the state. Currently Australia’s most awarded luxury hotel, accolades include Tripadvisor crowning the venue “Best Luxury hotel in Australia” five years in a row, and “Best gastronomic Boutique hotel in the world” among many others.

At Saffire, we simply take the very best of what Tasmania has to offer, and provide tailor-made gourmet moments that enhance the genuine flavours of home-grown produce. No matter what our guests’ request might be, our talented team will tailor to their requirements.

Offering multi-course tasting menus matched with incredible local wines and a daily changing a la carte menu, our menus have been pieced together around what is available and fresh from the water and paddocks that day. Panoramic views are also on the menu, with the beautiful hazards taking front and centre.

Pastry Chef

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a passionate Pastry Chef to join our team at Saffire. In this role, you will use your exceptional pastry skills and have freedom to create incredible dishes that will delight our guests. Under the guidance of Executive Chef, Iain Todd, you will work with some of Tasmania’s finest produce to bring to life your amazing creations.

As a senior member of the team, you display a calm head when faced with challenges, and are able to be a mentor to junior staff members showing an interest and passion for pastry. You will be ambitious, and strive to exceed the already very high expectations of our guests.

This role will be an unforgettable step in your career, and offers a salary of $60,000 plus superannuation, subsidised accommodation and other company benefits.

Demi Chef / Chef de Partie

In joining the team at Saffire as a Demi Chef or Chef de Partie, you will gain exposure to working with a number of well-known and professional Chefs, suppliers and producers. You will be surrounded by a team of highly skilled chefs, and supported by our values based and principle led ethos. You will have the satisfaction knowing you and your colleagues are contributing to creating memorable guest experiences that will last a lifetime.

You are an innovative chef, with a passion for creating, sharing and implementing new ideas. You have an admirable drive, with a desire to learn and progress your career.

This position has the capacity to take your career to the next level. It offers a unique lifestyle like no other, and a chance for you to influence the success of a well-established restaurant.

You will be paid under the Hospitality Industry (General) Award ($57,000 - $59,500), plus subsidised accommodation and other company benefits.
