YOUTH WORKER

We provide support for children and young people, and people with mental health, intellectual, sensory and physical disabilities in the Community Services Sector.

You will engage and work with children and  young people who are in a residential and/or community setting and provide assistance to them through positive role modelling, planning and assisting with recreational activities and maintaining a safe and supportive environment.

Essential Criteria

  1. Qualifications in relevant Community, Youth or Disability sector at Certificate IV and a willingness to enrol in a Diploma or above
  2. Six months paid experience
  3. Current First Aid certificate
  4. Current Drivers Licence and access to a reliable vehicle with comprehensive insurance
  5. Current Working With Children Check (for paid employment)
  6. Willingness to undergo a National Criminal Check
  7. Strong verbal and written communication skills
  8. Experience in record keeping and file maintenance

 

Desirable

  1. Knowledge of the National Standards for Disability Services
  2. Knowledge of Child and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act
  3. Knowledge of National Standards for Out of Home Care
  4. Experience managing challenging behaviours.
