Chef and Sous Chef - Conference and Events

Australia’s first dedicated art hotel, The Henry Jones merges one of Tasmania’s most significant industrial heritage sites with modern design and contemporary art to create a luxurious guest experience. The Henry Jones offers an exciting and varied unique mix of venues; Landscape Restaurant, IXL Long Bar, Peacock and Jones, Jam Packed Café and Lounge, as well as a contemporary, stylish and flexible Conferencing and Event offering. To support the ongoing success of our growing Conference and Events department, we have a fantastic opportunity for some talented Chefs to join our team.


Sous Chef
Reporting to the Executive Chef, you will be responsible for hands on and day-to-day management of the Conference and Events kitchen. You and your team will create tailored menus to delight our guests, ensuring they remember their special event forever. In addition to running the Conference and Events team, you will support our other outlets where required.

To be considered for this role, you will have:


• Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, develop and lead your team to deliver exceptional results,
• Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise directly with guests, the sales team and the wider Henry Jones team,
• Experience working in a Conference and Events environment, and
• Understanding of budgets and business performance


Chef
Working across Conference and Events, as well as our other outlets including Landscape Restaurant, you are a strong and capable chef who can work in busy, fast paced environments without compromising on quality. You are able to work well both independently and as part of a group, and have the skills to work in Pastry as well as other areas. Your creativity and desire to impress our guests will see you thrive in this role.

In this role, you will also bring;


• Experience cooking in a similar environment,
• Experience in, and a desire to work with desserts, in pastry production,
• Ability to support with creating and implementing new menus, and
• A keen eye for upcoming trends.
