The Australian Livestock and Rural Transporters Association (ALRTA) invites applications for a part-time Project Officer position in our National Secretariat, based in Canberra.
The ALRTA is the national peak body for a federation of six state and territory associations which strive to improve the safety, productivity and status of road transport businesses servicing the agricultural supply chain.
The primary function of the role is to progress grant-funded projects relating to:
- An innovative research project;
- Development of an industry code of practice; and
- Construction of new roadside infrastructure used by heavy vehicles.
Examples of day-to-day tasks include:
- Planning and prioritising;
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders;
- Developing and executing action plans;
- Collection and analysis of data;
- Budgeting; and
The role involves occasional interstate travel and representing the ALRTA at meetings and events. The Project Officer will also be required to assist in general office tasks such as answering phones and collecting mail.
Normal working hours will be 22.5 hours per week but some flexibility may be required to meet competing deadlines from time to time.
The position will suit a highly organised individual with previous project management experience.
Knowledge of the road transport sector, agricultural supply chain, infrastructure construction/operation or government regulatory processes would be an advantage.
