Assistant Resort Manager

About the role and location: 

Located on the majestic Lake Beedulup, RAC Karri Valley Resort is located in Australia's beautiful South West region, approximately 20 minutes from Pemberton, WA. 

We employ between 20 – 30 team members from many nationalities with majority living onsite. Our team environment is fun, fulfilling and challenging where you will have space to be yourself, engage with people from all over the world whilst developing your career in Resort Management.

The successful person will provide support to the Resort Manager on a daily basis  and will be responsible for ensuring the Resort's operations run smoothly in the absence of the Resort Manager. This role requires a hands-on approach, flexibility with shifts and the ability to lead and direct a team of staff to achieve daily outcomes, monthly budgets and KPIs. 

What we believe is essential for this position is a focus on providing excellent customer service at all times. A passion for ensuring guests have a memorable experience at the RAC Karri Valley Resort is key to your success in this role. 

To be considered for this position, you will demonstrate: ​​​

  • A strong background in Food & Beverage service & management. 

  • Must have Approved Managers Liquor Licensing Card for WA

  • Accommodation experience including the use of reservation systems such as Newbook or RMS. 

  • Experience in managing expenses and wages within a budget and knowledge of how to interpret financial information is essential. 

  • Understanding of Work, Health and Safety legislation and our responsibilities as an employer and service provider. 

  • A flexible attitude to work and work hours and the passion to work as part of a close team. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate at all levels. 

  • Strong people management skills and the ability to build and maintain good relationships with staff and guests. 

  • An understanding of HR functions including: recruitment, onboarding, performance management and training and development.

  • Strong leadership skills. 

  • Weddings experience highly desirable.

In this role, you will be expected to work various hours with the Resort Manager to ensure the interests of the Resort are at heart. 

Common tasks performed by an Assistant Manager include but are not limited to: 

  • Guest services & responding to issues. 

  • Ensuring grounds maintenance, gardening and general accommodation repairs are up to date. 

  • Monitoring of guest and business accounts. 

  • Reception duties including bookings, answering the phone, check-ins/outs etc. 

  • Stock control and ordering. 

  • Booking and organising functions, including weddings.

  • Resort activity organisation and participation 

  • Management of accounts through purchase orders, invoicing and accruals 

  • Budget Reporting and Analysis 

  • Staff recruitment, induction, training, supervision & rostering 

  • Night patrols & being available for after-hours call-outs. 

Past experience as an Assistant Manager is desired for this role and a trade certificate would be highly regarded. A competitive salary package will be offered to the right person and will include onsite accommodation. Pets are not allowed on the property.
