Finance Officer - 12 Month Contract (Parental Leave coverage)

Indesco is a highly respected consultancy with offices in Canberra, Sydney (Parramatta) and Wollongong. We are looking to temporarily fill a  Finance Officer position, in our Canberra (Deakin) office.

About the job

This is a contract position. The term of the contract will be from November 2018 - November 2019, a period of 12 months.

It is a full-time role, but part time will also be considered for the right candidate.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, you will be a vital member of a small, dynamic team, providing the day to day accounting functions to our firm to ensure organisational effectiveness and efficiency.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Accounts payable
  • Accounts receivable
  • Preparation of monthly financial reports
  • Payroll (65+ employees), using MYOB
  • Liaising with external accountant and producing financial reports
  • Preparation and lodgement of BAS
  • Preparation and lodgement of monthly payroll tax
  • Assist in preparation of FBT returns
  • Maintaining superannuation, long service and holiday leave records
  • Undertaking manual and electronic banking
  • Ensuring all electronic filing for project and administration accounts is kept up to date
  • Manage and update cash flows and financial statements as directed
  • Working in accordance with the quality system procedures
  • Assist in identification of non-conformance and
  • Assist in suggestions for improvement of the quality system

About you

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years experience delivering superior financial services, preferably in a related industry. You must be able to work with a high degree of independence, within a very busy team. You must be exceedingly well organised, flexible and have exceptional attention to detail. Excellent communication skills are a must, as is the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 

Essential requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail, time management and prioritisation skills

Desirable experience

  • Experience with Total Synergy software program will be very highly regarded
  • Experience in a similar industry will be highly regarded
  • Experience with the Security of Payment process will be highly regarded
