MAcq 01 Commis Chef

MACq 01 is Australia’s first storytelling hotel and winner of Gourmet Traveller’s ‘Best Large Hotel’ 2018 and Australian Hotel Association’s ‘Best Overall Hotel’ 2018. We are currently seeking Commis chefs to join our team of talented Chefs.

 

Old Wharf Restaurant tells the story of industry in Tasmania, capturing the tough life of the early industrial pioneers in mining, whaling, fishing, boat building and farming. Our beautiful contemporary and open-style kitchen serves locally sourced ingredients in a menu that hinges on Tasmania’s pure produce and latest catch.

Our team is now seeking two new roles to join our team to help continue on our success. These roles are;

 

  • Commis Chef– Commencing in early November, this role will be primarily responsible for our Seafood BBQ that will be available throughout summer on our deck on Friday and Saturday nights, Sunday lunches and some special events. This role will also have the opportunity to work in the restaurant kitchen.
  • Commis Chef – Commencing in early December, this role will be working on a rotating casual roster working in the Old Wharf kitchen

 

Reporting to the Executive Chef, as a member of our kitchen team you’re will be an honest and positive natured being who possesses the willingness and motivation to learn. Your responsibility will be to connect our guests with the stories of Tasmania through the food you help create, which will overall exceeding their expectations. You’re able to achieve this through your creativity, innovation, collaboration and excitement to try and share new ideas. To this role, you will also bring with you, your;

 

  • Experience working in a similar kitchen environment, working with quality food and produce (BBQ experience desirable),  
  • Motivation and enthusiasm for contemporary cooking,
  • Excellent personal presentation and ability to communicate and work directly with guests,
  • Desire to ensure guests needs are met and expectations exceeded,
  • Reliable and flexible approach to rostering requirements, and
  • Positive and encouraging attitude towards your work and team.
