Traffic and Road Safety Officer

 



  • Permanent Full Time Position – Band 5 ($69,649)
  • Investigate requests and undertake projects to enhance the safety of all road users travelling within the Mornington Peninsula.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic customer service professional to join the Traffic & Transport Team at Mornington Peninsula Shire. Your exceptional communication skills, high level problem solving ability and relevant experience will be rewarded with a supportive team environment and variety in your role.

 

About the business & role

The Traffic and Transport Team is one of five teams that make up the Infrastructure Strategy and Climate Change Unit.  As a pivotal member of this Team, you will be self-motivated, organised and possess strong time management skills.  You will be required to undertake a variety of tasks not limited to the following:

  • Respond to our community’s traffic and road safety requests and enquiries and investigate within required time frames.
  • Manage investigations, traffic data collection and analysis, undertake traffic counts and parking surveys as required.
  • Manage and prepare quality applications for internal and external funding opportunities for projects and programs.

 

Job Tasks & Responsibilities

You will be expected to provide specialist advice, decision-making and recommendations on traffic, parking and road safety issues following investigations via reports, correspondence, direct liaison and meetings with internal and external customers.

You will be able to effectively communicate with the public in a respectful manner and use your problem-solving skills to deliver exceptional customer service and build key relationships with stakeholders.

You will support the Traffic and Transport team and contribute to community consultations, educational, administrative and procurement tasks, data analysis, funding applications and advocacy efforts

 

Skills & Experience

The successful applicant will be required to have completed VCE (or equivalent) and have a minimum (5) five years’ experience working in Local Government Traffic Engineering (or related field).

 

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold an Employee Working with Children Check (mandatory)
  • Be prepared to undertake an Australian Criminal History Check (mandatory)
  • Hold a current Drivers Licence (mandatory)
  • Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Have excellent Computer Skills (Microsoft Office applications) and a commitment to exceptional customer service.
