Applications Engineer

In the role of Applications Engineer, you’ll be part of a newly formed Digital Operations and Applications team responsible for digital strategy and delivery across internal business systems and both B2B and B2C applications.

Reporting to the Head of Digital Operations and Applications, you will be responsible for:

  • Designing and delivering new solutions based on business requirements and guiding our future roadmap
  • Managing and maintaining our existing digital solutions
  • Investigating and solving problems and queries related to our digital eco-system
  • Developing high level and detail design documentation covering functional and technical specifications
  • Researching and evaluating trends in the digital space and provide recommendations
  • Educating other members of the team around digital development

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in engineering and/or computing
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role analysing business requirements and developing solutions to meet business needs (critical)
  • Experience in AWS, Azure or Salesforce platforms (mandatory)
  • Basic scripting using Perl, Python, Shell or other languages (preferable)
  • Exposure to one or more of the following: Javascript, SQL, XML, .Net, PHP (critical)
  • Experience with integration software such as MuleSoft or Talend (preferable)
  • Experience with one or more of the following: SharePoint, Salesforce Apex (critical)
  • An understanding of SDLC methodologies & tools (preferable)
  • Experience with Atlassian JIRA (preferable)
  • ITIL Foundation certificate (preferable)
  • Experience working in a DevOps environment would be beneficial
  • Experience in a publishing and/or distribution environment would be an advantage
