Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) is the peak professional organisation, which is committed to establishing, promoting and defending the career paths of tertiary trained exercise and sports science practitioners.


We are recruiting for a part time Member Development Officer who wants to join our team and make a difference for sports science professional.

Overview of Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for responding to Sports Science member enquiries regarding their professional and development needs
  • Responsible for researching and developing content for Sports Science member support resources and services to assist members in practice
  • Responsible for providing the Professional Development staff with advice and support where required for professional development opportunities for Sports Science members
  • Work with the Policy and Advocacy team to support the needs of Sports Scientist
  • Act as a representative with the stakeholders when required
  • Undertake specific projects as directed by the Chief Executive Officer or Manager

Selection Criteria:

  1. Degree qualification in Exercise or Sports Science (preferable)
  2. Demonstrated knowledge and/or understanding of the Sports Science landscape
  3. Demonstrated ability to develop relationships and consult closely with stakeholders and professionals
  4. Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively as part of a small team
  5. Highly developed self-management skills
  6. Demonstrated ability to think strategically, identify trends and issues and make recommendations to assist the profession
  7. Demonstrated ability to be flexible or adapt quickly to evolving association priorities
  8. Minimum 2 years industry experience
