OUR ORGANISATION

The Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Society (ANZICS) is the leading advocate on all intensive care related matters. ANZICS leads the world in intensive care research through its Clinical Trials Group and patient registries (containing data from over 2 million patient episodes).  The Society is devoted to all aspects of intensive care medical practice through ongoing professional education, the provision of leadership in medical settings, clinical research and analysis of critical care resources.

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking an innovative and driven Business Development and Marketing Officer to join our team. The individual in this role will be responsible for analysing our existing business strategies and identifying new opportunities to increase revenue and collaboration.  In addition, this role will undertake and manage our marketing activities to achieve goals set by the management team.

To be successful in this role, we are seeking a candidate who is creatively-minded, analytical, highly numerate, has demonstrated influencing skills and is deeply empathetic.  Candidates with a background in the healthcare and/or the medical research sectors would be highly regarded, although this is not strictly mandatory to succeed in this role. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the General Manager, the Business Development and Marketing Officer is primarily responsible for:

  • developing business plans in conjunction with the General Manager to achieve revenue goals for ANZICS
  • analysing current and historical business information to identify potential commercial opportunities
  • developing compelling business development portfolios for partner organisations
  • building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders at every level
  • developing, reviewing and communicating proposals with partner organisations
  • negotiating term sheets (or similar) with partner organisations
  • identifying unique business strategies and concepts to further develop the ANZICS brand and revenue opportunities
  • collaborating with colleagues on business development, marketing opportunities and initiatives to drive organisational strategies
  • proactively staying up-to-date on best practices, policies, products, pricing and promotions relevant to activities of ANZICS and its commercial goals
  • planning, developing and implementing a marketing plan and associated strategies to drive highly efficient and efficacious communication with all organisational stakeholders
  • organising and implementing marketing activities to raise brand awareness
  • planning and executing promotional campaigns on a variety of media platforms (eg. social, print, etc...)
  • liaising with stakeholder groups and vendors to promote ANZICS’s activities and enhance the society’s awareness
  • together with subject matter experts, prepare content for the publication of marketing material and oversee distribution
  • conducting market research to identify opportunities for promotion and growth
  • collaborating with managers to prepare budgets and monitor expenses
  • analysing and evaluating the success of marketing/promotional campaigns using metrics
  • performing other duties consistent with the seniority of this role
  • providing support for various ANZICS events as required

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

  1. Proven experience in previous roles focussed on business development and marketing
  2. Tertiary qualification in marketing, business administration or other relevant qualification
  3. Demonstrable working knowledge of modern business development and marketing techniques
  4. Advanced knowledge of market research techniques and data analysis methods
  5. Innovation, creativity and commercial astuteness
  6. Outstanding interpersonal, influencing, communication, critical thinking and analytical skills (both verbal and written)
  7. A proven team player with advanced abilities to work in multidisciplinary teams and to liaise effectively at all levels
  8. Advanced knowledge of MS Office, graphic design and other relevant software (e.g. customer relationship management systems)
  9. Advanced understanding of social media platforms, online mailing lists (eg. MailChimp or similar) and website management (eg. WordPress) skills

Previous experience in the healthcare sector
