OPEN PIT MINE SURVEYOR - RESIDENTIAL ROLE

Norton Gold Fields Limited (Norton or "the Company") is one of Australia's largest domestic gold producers, with recent annual production of upto 200,000 ounces. The Company has a mining and processing complex in Western Australia's world-class Kalgoorlie gold region, including a highly prospective tenement package of over 1,000km² surrounding the 3.8Mtpa Paddington Mill.

Norton Gold Fields is seeking a Mine Surveyor to join the Open Pit team at our Paddington Operations, based in Kalgoorlie.  An Employer of Choice with a Clear Growth Strategy, Norton Gold Fields provides career opportunities that benefit you and the local community.

Reporting to the Chief Surveyor, this role is responsible for survey control at our open pit operations, including measuring total volume of material moved, pegging, measuring quantities of material blasted, surveying mining configuration and locating blast and explosive holes.

Key Duties / Tasks for this Position:

  • Surface Survey Control Network installation and maintenance.
  • Drill and Blast surveys.
  • Ensuring Open Pit and Waste Dump is mined to design with the use of crest pegs, toe pegs, ramp pegs and tbm's.
  • Ore mark-ups.
  • Geological/Geotechnical structure surveys.
  • EOM volumes.
  • Stockpile surveys and volumes.
  • Prism monitoring 
  • Infrastructure surveys near mine.
  • Water level surveys.
  • Exploration/grade control surveys
  • Any other duties as required.

The ideal applicant will have:

  • Minimum 1 year survey experience within metalliferous open cut mining
  • Tertiary qualified Mine Surveyor, working towards an Authorised Mine Surveyor Certificate
  • Experience within metalliferous underground mining would also be highly regarded
  • Current unrestricted WA C class licence
  • Proficiency in Surpac mining software, will be highly regarded
  • Proficiency in the use Trimble survey equipment, will be highly regarded
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software preferable
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently, with a high regard for personal and team safety
  • Ability to continually review current practices and suggest improvements
  • Good communication and team work skills essential
