ABOUT THE POSITION

Reporting to the Technical Manager and leading a small quality assurance team, the Quality Manager will drive best practice quality and food safety standards across all aspects of operations from raw materials to distribution of finished goods.  Responsible for activities at our main facility at Salisbury South, as well as incoming products, the role will partner with operational teams to ensure full compliance to regulatory/statutory requirements, first class quality systems whilst also incorporating lean principles.  Acting as both a service provider and business partner, the Quality Manager will develop capability and understanding, facilitate problem solving and drive the quality/food safety agenda through others.

Key to success will be the incumbents' ability to lead cross functional teams, act at both a strategic and hands on level partner with multiple site managers to achieve desired outcomes.  This is a great opportunity enabling you to lead and motivate people cross functionally delivering a quality product loved and enjoyed by Australians for over 140 years. 

To succeed in this position you will have the following experience and attributes:

  • A tertiary qualification in microbiology, food science or a related discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years' quality and food safety systems experience
  • Understanding and ability to manage and train key stakeholders in HACCP
  • Experience with implementing and auditing Quality and GFSI recognised food safety standards
  • Practical implementation of food legislation requirements
  • Expertise in food microbiology and GMP will be highly regarded
  • Exposure to Food and/or Beverage manufacturing is essential
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles will be highly regarded  
  • Effective  project, people and time management skills
  • Analytical and problem solving skills to provide correct guidance for business decision
  • Excellent reporting skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with a range of stakeholders
