Working with considerable autonomy, you will work closely with management, operational team leaders, staff and independent contractors to drive Workplace Health & Safety awareness, compliance and the development of a proactive hazard management and safety culture.

Ensuring adequate safety resources, information and training are available and proactively delivered to reduce risks to health and safety and that appropriate safety behaviour is embedded across multiple work locations are important responsibilities of your key role.

You will contribute to the development of WHS policy, systems and processes and provide proactive advice and support to all stakeholders to ensure ForestrySA remains compliant with its WHS obligations under South Australian legislation. You will co-ordinate the established WHSE Committee and represent the organisation at relevant WHS forums.

Incident investigation, co-ordinating audits of contractor safety performance and the preparation of timely reports rounds out your responsibilities.

ForestrySA  manages sustainable, commercial  forestry plantations in the Mount Lofty Ranges (MLR) as well as significant native forest reserves and recreational facilities in the MLR and Green Triangle regions on behalf of the South Australian Government. ForestrySA is strongly committed to sustainability, biodiversity and conservation principles and practices.

ForestrySA is equally committed to ensuring a safe workplace for all employees and contractors and takes a proactive approach to risk identification and hazard management including the threat of potentially devastating wildfires to communities, people and assets. You can expect to be significantly involved in ForestrySA's preventative and emergency fire response plans & training programs. 

Holding relevant qualifications in WHS, you will have a proven track record as a  "hands on" WHS practitioner within an industrial, civil construction, mining, or natural resources setting. Experience in fire response activities either in a volunteer or professional capacity will be well regarded. A change agent by nature, you will possess strong communication and influencing skills and the ability to continuously improve an established WHS system and associated processes.
