About the Opportunity

Taking advantage of this rare opportunity to demonstrate your abilities as a genuine innovator, you’ll contribute to the future of Blacktown as you carry out a range of planning duties as a Senior Coordinator. Blacktown is experiencing unprecedented growth. As a dynamic planner, you will have a genuine interest in creating and enacting strategic plans, developing policies, environmental planning instruments and development control plans to guide and control future development. You will be required to project manage various tasks as a team member or as an individual, and supervise the work of planners within your team.

You hold relevant degree qualifications and have relevant experience in strategic planning in local government. Your experience in the preparation of planning proposals and development control plans, the briefing and coordination of consultants and the development and preparation of policies are essential attributes. Experience in developing, implementing and monitoring internal work procedures, and supervising staff is well regarded.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Degree qualifications in a relevant or related field 
  • In depth experience in strategic planning 
  • Expert research, analytical and problem solving skills 
  • High level oral and written communication skills with the ability to liaise with all levels of internal and external customers 
  • High level negotiation and dispute resolution skills with the capacity to make decisions 
  • Experience in managing complex projects relating to the built environment 
  • Proven inter-personal, supervisory, leadership and staff management skills 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the New South Wales Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, Local Government Act 1933 and other relevant legislation 
  • Current Class "C" driver's licence.

Remuneration and Benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • A competitive salary will be negotiated with the successful candidate based on qualifications and experience
  • 35 hour working week 
  • Leaseback vehicle
