Assistant Educator - Chelmer-Graceville Kindergarten

The Role
At C&K Chelmer-Graceville Kindergarten, a C&K affiliated centre, a position has become available for an experienced and qualified Assistant Educator to join their team.


As the Assistant, you will be responsible for implementing a quality care and education program for kindergarten aged children in co-operation with the Kindergarten Teacher.  You may also be required by the Director to perform administrative work that is peripheral and incidental to performing the delivery of the Kindergarten's education program.


This position is a part time, fixed term contract commencing January 2019 until December 2019, with the potential to go permanent for the right candidate. The role requires you to work Monday to Friday, with a total of 30.5hrs per week. These hours are subject to review throughout the year and may change to meet the operational needs of our Kindergarten.


 Ideal candidates will:
  • Be an experience Assistant Educator with a minimum of 5 years' experience
  • Hold a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
  • Be actively working towards a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care
  • Have a positive attitude with high levels of enthusiasm, initiative and motivation
  • Have the ability to work flexible hours
  • Possess effective behaviour management experience and strategies
  • Strong communication skills and experience using Storypark (or similar online platform) would be advantageous
  • Have an understanding of C&K Building Waterfalls Curriculum and The Early Years Learning Framework
  • Administrative experience within a community kindergarten/preschool
  • Strong record keeping and organisational skills
  • A well-developed knowledge of digital platforms and products with the demonstrated ability to learn and embrace new software applications including Xero; Storypark; Microsoft Office 365: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneDrive; Intranet navigation
  • Hold a current Blue Card

Located opposite the Graceville State School in the leafy western suburbs of Brisbane, our kindergarten is a vibrant and vital part of the wider Chelmer/Graceville community. 


Opening our doors in 1962, we provide high quality care and education to children and support to their families. We recognise the value and richness that a child receives when playing, this is why we are passionate about our 'learn through play' program. Children have the opportunity to create, discover and explore in a safe and rewarding environment overseen by university qualified early childhood teacher and educators with passions that ranges from the Arts through to Science. Our program aims to maximise children's life outcomes and guide their learning journey – providing a secure and confident transition from home to kindergarten and then on to primary school.
 
We offer a high staff to child ratio, large natural outdoor play areas, committed volunteer management committee and parent group, and extensive early childhood educational resources. We are currently approved to provide education and care to a maximum of 25 children.
