Security Risk and Education Adviser

Queensland Rail is dedicated to providing a safe, reliable, on-time, value for money and customer focused rail service that benefits the community, supports industry and is integrated with the public transport system.  Queensland Rail employs around 6500 people and has assets valued at approximately $7 billion.

We are currently looking for an experienced Security Risk and Education Adviser to join the Security Analysis and Planning team based at Roma Street, Brisbane.  You will play a vital role in developing, implementing and maintaining protective security risk management, security awareness, counter terrorism awareness and education strategies.

Responsibilities include:

  • Co-ordinate and/or undertake security risk assessments and protective security reviews for Queensland Rail as part of the Security Risk Program of Work
  • Assist in the development and implementation of security risk-based strategies designed to reduce the frequency and severity of security incidents occurring across the network.
  • Develop and deliver security related training packages to all relevant operational and administrative areas within Queensland Rail
  • Provide specialist protective security advice to Queensland Rail employees on any operational security issue.
  • Provide detailed protective security advice to new and existing development or upgrade projects to ensure protective security considerations are implemented.
  • Liaise and negotiate with key stakeholders regarding security risk management issues and the implementation of security initiatives within Queensland Rail.
  • Assist as required in matters directly relating to Queensland Rail’s security program.

Candidates with a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110) coupled with risk management and education experience will be highly regarded.  In addition, you must have:

  • High level of skill and experience in development and delivery of security related education and awareness products, including training programs, manuals, policies and procedures.
  • High level of knowledge in protective security considerations as applicable to mass passenger transport industry.
  • High level of knowledge in security incident management processes, security risk management and counter terrorism.
  • High level of interpersonal skills including the ability to conduct presentations in a formal and informal setting.
  • Substantial Knowledge and understanding of relevant security focused legislative requirements for Queensland Rail.
  • Knowledge of and willingness to commit and work within Queensland Rail's Values and Behaviours.
