Strategic Business Consultant/Analyst

  • Initial 6 month contract with possible extension
  • Initially Sydney CBD based, then moving to Parramatta
  • January start!

Our client seeks a highly motivated individual who aspires to work on some of the most challenging strategic problems in the public education sector. Specifically, we are looking for an individual who is aspiring to grow their business consulting career in the public service or education sector as part of an internal team focused on improving student outcomes.

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate prior experience in change transformations, an ability to work collaboratively to ensure delivery of school-focused outcomes, strong stakeholder management and communication skills and expertise in completing complex data analysis to support problem solving. In addition you will have high proficiency in excel and Powerpoint - specifically an ability to map and analyse processes/problems, complete modelling and construct supporting storylines and visuals within Powerpoint.

Responsibilities include:

  • Analyse operational data for trends, insights and opportunities for improvements.
  • Analyse operational tasks and practices.
  • Map and document processes and procedures.
  • Schedule and plan workshops and discovery activities.
  • Document workshop and meeting outcomes.
  • Document recommendations for stakeholder consultation and approval.

Experience and skills required:

  • 3-5 years' experience of mid-level consulting experience and are looking to grow your career working directly with business users.
  • Exposure to service or operational model transformation projects.
  • Experience working in the policy, strategy or service reform function of an education or public sector (government, quasi-government or NFP) organisation in Australia or overseas.
  • Consulting experience from tier 1 or 2 consultancy or internal business excellence consulting team.
  • Natural intellectual curiosity and problem solving drive.
  • Strong consulting fundamentals including strategic problem solving, data analytics and excel modelling, structured written and visual communication.
  • Highly effective communication skills, both written and verbal, mentoring and proven capabilities in people management.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Outstanding academics and preferably a post-graduate qualifications.
