About the role

Gold Road will be looking for an innovative, team-minded Project Exploration Geologist to join the Yamarna exploration effort, commencing in February 2019.  

Reporting to the Project Manager Exploration, the Project Exploration Geologist will perform a hands-on exploration geology role, encompassing planning and supervision of exploration activities and reporting results.  Joining a small and collaborative team, the successful applicant is required to conduct and assist with field based activities including rig management and logging drill holes.

This role is offered on a permanent basis and will be FIFO ex Perth to Yamarna working 12 hour days on an 8/6 roster.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Commitment to working safely, promotion of safe working practices with colleagues and contractors;

  • Evaluating exploration datasets to generate, rank and test new and existing targets;

  • High quality geological logging of core and chips;

  • Effective communication and leadership of field staff and contractors;

  • Planning, implementing and managing drilling programmes in a timely and safe manner and on budget;

  • Geological modelling and interpretation of projects utilising geological, geochemical and geophysical data;

  • Making discoveries of economically viable resources; and

  • Contributing to company and statutory reports.

 

About yourself

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor of Science in Geology, preferably with honours or higher;

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years' exploration experience in Archaean greenstone terranes with particular emphasis on gold exploration (a significant component of field based experience is highly desirable);

  • A good understanding of orogenic gold systems, and relevant early and late stage exploration techniques;

  • Demonstrated knowledge of ore system models to apply in effective targeting to discover new mineralised systems;

  • Experience working with large datasets and ability to utilise geological, geochemical and geophysical data to conduct geological interpretation and develop working geological models;

  • Proficiency with Databases, GIS and 3D modelling software;

  • Experience with staged exploration approach methods and utilising geological ranking systems and target databases;

  • Experience working with large teams on multirig drill programmes (>100,000m per year)

  • Knowledge of tenement management requirements a familiarity with accounting practices for statutory reporting (Form 5’s etc);

  • Prior experience in a similar role;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; and

  • Australian Drivers Licence (manual).
