Head of Product

Who is Standards Australia?
We are an independent not-for-profit organisation, recognised by the Australian Government as the peak non-government Standards body.  We develop internationally aligned Australian Standards in the national interest and work closely with government, industry, consumer and stakeholder groups.

We have a newly created opportunity to join our team as the Head of Product, on a permanent full-time basis.

About the Role

Reporting to the General Manager of Operations, the Head of Product will play a key leadership role within the business to deliver new and innovative initiatives aligned with Standards Australia’s strategy.

This role will be instrumental for building out the team, developing and embedding the capability, and commencing Product development at Standards Australia. In addition, the Head of Product will be responsible for improving overall business sustainability and providing an enhanced customer experience by developing products that customers want.

What are we looking for?

It is essential that the Head of Product:

  • Engages with senior leaders of the business to define and deliver both the long-term vision and short-team goals for Standard Australia’s Product Management function
  • Mentors and develops the product management team, while educating and leading the rest of the organisation through effective communication
  • Builds, organises and manages the product management team consistently with the values, desired culture and evolving needs of Standards Australia
  • Establishes a strong leadership presence with high-motivation to meet personal, team and corporate goals
  • Provides sound commercial advice to decision makers on how products can help solve business problems

Minimum education/professional requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of eight (8) years product management experience, ideally working with user-centric product development and design
  • Minimum of five (5) years leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge and experience in eCommerce, pricing and market analysis
  • Proven track record at a senior level using product management to solve business problems and create opportunities preferably in a B2B-oriented business with multiple stakeholders
