Assistant Accountant - Tailem Bend

The Project

The Bend Motorsport Park is a new world-class development situated at Tailem Bend providing the widest variety of motorsport disciplines ‘through the one gate’, including circuit racing, drag racing, drifting, karting, rally and off-road, rallycross, 4WD park, and driver training facilities. The Bend is a private development being undertaken by Peregrine Corporation.

The motorsport facilities are supported by a hotel located in the pit building, caravan and camping, an air strip for light aircraft, helipad, a business/industry park and a community sub-division.

The Bend caters for international events, national series racing, grass roots club events, driver safety training and drive experience programs.

The Business also owns and operates Mallala Motorsport Park.

The Role

In order to become more operationally efficient, the business requires a strong, capable and experienced Accountant to work with our Finance Manager.  You will be based at The Bend Motorsport Park however occasional travel to our Norwood Head Office may be required.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions 
  • Analysis and posting the bank statement entries
  • Banking
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Monitoring debtors and following up all overdue invoices
  • Month end accounting including accruals and prepayments
  • Coding and upload of monthly hotel trial balance to D365 and reconciliation to the hotel Opera reservations system
  • General Ledger maintenance and reconciliations
  • Monthly reconciliation and analysis of all merchant accounts and ticket agent statements
  • Preparation and lodgement of quarterly BAS statements
  • Preparation of daily cashflow forecast
  • Assisting the Finance Manager with the preparation of the monthly management accounts
  • Assisting the Finance Manager with the preparation of the budget

The Successful candidate will possess:

  • A strong working knowledge of MS Dynamics will be highly desirable
  • A tertiary qualification in Accounting or related subject
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced organisation
  • Previous experience in dealing with a complex accounting structure across multiple business units
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organised and accurate
  • Excellent time management skills
  • A self-motivated personality and desire to learn on the job
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft suite of programs particularly Excel
  • A driver’s licence as occasional travel to Tailem Bend will be required
