A unique opportunity exists to join our team as an experienced Head of IT Strategy and Operations on a permanent, full-time basis.

Technology sits at the core of Standards Australia’s Strategic Plan and our business is changing to meet rapidly evolving contributor and customer expectations.

Standards Australia’s technology team support many aspects of our business. Technology allows us to engage with more than 8,000 contributors who work with us to develop content. Technology supports the development and curation of products which are ultimately delivered to customers.

About the Role

As the Head of IT Strategy and Operations, you will lead our technology team to support our business applications and enhance our capacity to deliver, in line with our robust governance, cybersecurity and risk mitigation policies.  You will be responsible for:

Strategy

  • Developing and delivering a rolling ICT Strategy for Standards Australia
  • Providing technical thought leadership and holistic thinking to enable achievement of overall strategic goals for Standards Australia
  • Providing sound commercial advice to decision makers on how technology can help solve business problems
  • Communicating and advocating technology strategy to stakeholders including Board members, Executive team, Stakeholders and staff
  • Establishing and directing the strategic and tactical goals, policies, and procedures for the technology team.
    • Identifying opportunities, monitoring emerging technologies, their implications, and potential application to Standard's business, and keep the Executive team apprised of these developments
    • Collaborating with senior leaders of the business to help define and deliver both the long-term vision and short-term road map for Standards Australia’s technology footprint.

Operations

  • Overall ownership of system architecture, team processes and the execution and delivery of technical solutions
  • Implementing relevant, reliable, innovative, cost effective and customer focused technology solutions to support SA’s Strategic Plan
  • Developing appropriately scoped business cases and manage technology projects to scope, budget and time constraints
  • Overall ownership and accountability of budgeting, financial planning and controls for technology projects and initiatives
  • Understanding industry standards and the regulatory landscape as it relates to technology, to ensure ongoing compliance and controls
  • Ensuring satisfactory security and backup of all data and infrastructure resources
  • Designing, developing, and auditing disaster recovery plans for all systems
  • Manage and measure vendor relationships and performance as well as lead vendor contract negotiations
  • Collaborating and adhere to established practices within technology governance groups
  • Providing regular reporting on projects and initiatives and describe initiatives succinctly and clearly

Leadership

  • Providing consistent vision, motivation and leadership to the technology team
  • Building, organising and managing the technology team consistent with the values, desired culture and evolving needs of Standards Australia
  • Building and maintaining a high-performance and customer focused team
  • Establishing a strong leadership presence with high-motivation to meet personal, team and corporate goals
  • Creating an environment that enables and facilitates the growth of individual contributors within the team and wider business

Minimum Education/Professional Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in a challenging entrepreneurial environment
  • Minimum of ten (10) years technology experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years senior management experience in a technology environment
  • Proven track record at a senior level using technology to solve business problems and create opportunities preferably in a consumer-oriented business with multiple stakeholders.
